on the entry into force of the National Curriculum Guide for Upper Secondary Schools.

Article 1

With reference to Articles 21 and 23 of the Act on Upper Secondary Schools, No. 92/2008, as amended, the Minister of Education, Science and Culture hereby confirms the entry into force of the National Curriculum Guide for Upper Secondary Schools, dated 16. May 2011, which is published as an attachment to this announcement. The National Curriculum Guide will be implemented in schools from and including the 2011-2012 school year, as far as possible, and shall be fully implemented no later than 1 August 2015. At the same time, the National Curriculum Guide for Upper Secondary Schools No. 138 from 28 January 2004 is repealed.

Article 2

The general part of the National Curriculum Guide for Upper Secondary Schools describes common goals and requirements that apply to all students, teachers, school administrators and other staff. It is also a benchmark for assessment at the upper secondary school level, the evaluation of schools and school work, a guiding light for those involved in curriculum development and teacher education, and the basis for school curriculum development and internal school evaluation. The National Curriculum Guide also provides information to parents so that they can monitor the school’s practices and the results of school work.

Article 3

This announcement takes effect immediately.

on amendments to the national curriculum for upper secondary schools.

Article 1

With reference to Articles 21 and 23 of the Act on Upper Secondary Schools, No. 92/2008, as amended, the Minister of Education, Science and Culture hereby confirms an amendment to the National Curriculum Guide for Upper Secondary Schools, dated 16. May 2011, cf. advertisement no. 674/2011. Section 13.2.1. Relationship to proficiency levels in upper secondary school is replaced by a new section with the same title, which is published as an attachment to this advertisement.

Article 2

This announcement takes effect immediately.
