All work by students in upper secondary school shall be assessed in standard units of study, and each unit shall be based on approximately equal student work. All work by students in full-time studies shall provide 60 upper secondary school credits (ECs) in one academic year or 30 credits per semester.
One upper secondary school credit corresponds to 18 to 24 hours of work by an average student, that is, three days of work by students assuming an average of six to eight hours of work per day, depending on the nature of the subjects and the students’ performance.
When calculating the number of upper secondary school credits, the following is taken into account:
